Please provide the number of people (drivers and passengers) issued with a fixed penalty notice or other enforcement notice for failing to wear a seatbelt in a motor vehicle, for each of the following calendar years:
- 2016
- 2017
- 2018
- 2019
- 2020

- 2022
- 2023
- 2024
- 2025
If the information is recorded as the number of offences/notices rather than the number of individuals, please provide that figure instead.
I am only requesting the total figure for each year and do not require any further breakdown.
If you can't provide the full 10 years, please provide the last 3 years.

We publish crime statistics for England and Wales from the Crime Survey for England and Wales (CSEW) and police recorded crime data. Home Office are responsible for collecting police recorded crime data.
We do not hold information on the number of people issued with a fixed penalty notice or other enforcement notice for failing to wear a seatbelt in a motor vehicle. The Home Office publish statistics on fixed penalty notices for motoring offences in their publications and datasets.
