You asked

I am writing to request information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 relating to the park home industry in England and Wales. My aim is to gain insights into demographic trends, economic impacts, and regulatory compliance within this sector.

Specifically, I would like to request the following information:

  1. Detailed demographic profiles of park home residents, including age, socio-economic status, and regional distribution.
  2. Data on the number of park homes, their occupancy rates over the past decade, and comparisons with other housing types.
  3. Statistical information on the economic impact of the park home industry, particularly in terms of employment and contributions to local economies.
  4. Reports on the conditions and standards of park homes, including health and safety inspections, resident complaints, and enforcement actions.
  5. Information on compliance with specific housing regulations that apply to park homes, including any legal actions taken against park home sites.
  6. Analysis of the impact of recent legislative changes on the park home sector.

Thank you for your enquiry.

Unfortunately, ONS do not hold data specifically on park homes or their residents. Census respondents will have self-classified their property, likely as a 'detached house or bungalow'; although some may have chosen "a caravan or other mobile or temporary structure", and then as owner-occupied or rented as per their situation.

We do not hold information on the conditions and standards of park homes, compliance with specific housing regulations, or analysis of the impact of recent legislative changes on the park home sector. The Department for Levelling Up, Housing, and Communities (DLUHC) may be better placed to assist with this, as they produce the following publications on park homes:

They can be contacted at FOI@levellingup.gov.uk.
