You asked
I would like to know the percentage of businesses in the UK owned by black people. I would like the data on this for the last 25 years.

Thank you for your recent query regarding the percentage of businesses in the UK owned by black people.
Although the Inter-Departmental Business Register (IDBR) holds information on the number of businesses registered for VAT and/or PAYE, it does not hold information on the ethnicity of business owners as we advised in response to a previous FOI request.
The Labour Force Survey collects information on self-employed persons and a breakdown of self-employment by ethnicity from 2001 can be found in tables 16 to 18 of table A09. If you would like further information on self-employment by ethnicity, user requested extracts and tabulations of Labour Force Survey (LFS) and Annual Population Survey (APS) data are available to order (subject to legal frameworks, disclosure control, resources and agreements of costs, where appropriate). Such enquiries should be made to socialsurveys@ons.gov.uk.
If you're able to run your own analysis, Labour Force Survey datasets back to 1992 are available from the UK Data Service.
