I would like access to communications between members of staff at the Office of National Statistics, specifically those in the census department that include the word ‘transgender’ between the 1 September 2023 and the 9 November 2023.

This contains email exchanges between ONS colleagues, some of which refer to our preparation for queries on this topic. This includes some speculative questions that we thought we may receive, and do not reflect the views of ONS. 

This release also contains some email notifications following edits made to an internal document, which contain some incomplete passages of text. 

On page 4 of the pack of correspondence, we have stated “The table below shows the main sources used to compare Census estimates”. Please note that this sentence is in reference to the main international data sources we used to compare the quality of census estimates. 

Personal data has been redacted from the emails in line with Section 40(2) of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA).
