I am looking for more information about the number of venues within a certain industry, and specifications on the revenue streams.
The SIC codes are as follows:
5630 Includes bars, clubs and nightclubs
5610 Restaurants
5510 Hotels
9312 Activities of Sports clubs: Golf clubs are within this group
I would like to know how many venues there are for each business type - bars, clubs, pubs, restaurants, hotels and leisure activities/clubs. I would also like to know the ratio of their revenue streams, mainly from selling alcohol, food and tickets/events.
I would also like to find out about payment statistics. The information I need is:
Volume of payments (£ value)
Number of transactions
Growth of these values over the last years
The information that I need this for, are as follows:
Cash
Card
Online
NFC (Near field communication, eg contactless payments, Apple Pay etc)

Thank you for your enquiry. Data on the number of UK businesses broken down by Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) codes can be found in the UK Business: Activity, Size and Location publication. The datasets can be accessed via NOMIS using the following link:
You will need to go into query data on the right hand side of the screen and then choose UK Business Counts (third from the bottom.) As you are interested in the number of venues please choose the local units option. If you wanted the business as a whole rather than individual sites then you would need to choose the enterprise option. The next screen will then give you the option to break the data down by SIC. Unfortunately we do not hold the extra information that you require on breaking down revenue and payment statistics.
