Would it be possible to have annual number of pubs over time as far as records go back?

For information, ONS produce an annual publication called UK Business: Activity, size and location. This publication breaks down the number of UK Businesses (registered for VAT and/or PAYE) by geography, employment size-band, industry and legal status. It is created using an extract of the Inter Departmental Business Register (IDBR) taken on 11 March 2022.
The data you have requested regarding the number of pubs are available using the following link to our Data Dissemination Tool. The data are available from 2010 to 2022. The data can be broken-down by geography and Standard Industrial Classification (SIC).
If you have any further queries or want to obtain data prior to 2010, please contact our IDBR data service team via idbrdas@ons.gov.uk.
