Deaths registered in England and Wales 2020 will provide the number of deaths that occurred in hospitals for 2020 in table 11. There were 257,547 registered deaths in NHS Hospitals and a further 427 registered deaths in non-NHS hospitals.
Death registrations and occurrences by local authority and health board will provide a weekly update for deaths in hospitals by local authority and place of occurrence.
Deaths registered weekly in England and Wales, provisional will provide a weekly update on all hospital deaths in England and Wales. Both publications are updated every Tuesday.
From 28 December 2020 to 6 August 2021 (latest available data) there have been 420,207 deaths registered in hospitals.
