Number of people under the age of 30 who have died or have been seriously ill from COVID-19

I would like to know the amount of people under the age of 30 that have been seriously ill and/or have died of COVID-19.

Our Deaths Registered Weekly in England and Wales publication shows COVID-19 deaths by 5-year age group and sex.

Between 3^rd January 2020 and 30^th April 2021 there have been 219 registered deaths involving COVID-19 in the under 30's age bracket.

As ONS are responsible for the production of mortality statistics for England and Wales, we do not have access to hospital admissions or recovery rates for COVID-19. Therefore, we do not hold the data you have requested on people who are seriously ill. This data is held by NHS Digital, so they may be better placed to answer your query.
