Number of participants in the COVID-19 Infection Survey and source of funding for the scheme

  1. Can you please let me have the total number of participants in the Infection Survey scheme from when the scheme was implemented last April 2020 up until June 2021?

  2. Can you break this down into the number of participants who were paid £50 for an initial test and participants who claimed the initial £50 plus subsequent tests at £25?

  3. Can you also provide me with the source of funding for this scheme?

  1. Total unique participants since the start of the COVID-19 Infection Survey scheme at the end of April 2020 up to now are: 474,359 (England: 397,525; Wales: 25,729; Northern Ireland: 13,235; Scotland: 37,870).

  2. 11,499 have had one visit (paid initial £50), 462,860 have had more than one visit (initial £50 plus follow up visits of £25).

  3. The funding source is ultimately the Department for Health and Social Care (DHSC).
