Number of Italian people in each area or district of the UK

You asked

We would like to ask whether it would be possible to have some combined data (separate files) as follows:

Italian passport held by age (in each district)
Italian passport held by year of arrival (in each district)
Italian passport held by education level (specifically Q30)

If it is not possible to do so by passport, we may consider using national identity as a proxy.

It would be appreciated if you could provide the information in the form of an electronic spreadsheet (i.e., Excel file) via email.

The information you have requested cannot be downloaded from our create a custom dataset tool for all local authorities (LAs). The combination of passports held (Italian) by age is only available for 189 of the 331 LAs in England and Wales. Passports held (Italian) by year of arrival is only available for 184 areas, and passport held (Italian) by education level, 174 LAs.

This is because statistical disclosure control (SDC) methods (to protect individuals, households, businesses and their attributes, or characteristics, from identification in published datasets) have been applied. Further information can be found in Protecting personal data in Census 2021 results, which explain how and why the Office for National Statistics (ONS) carried out statistical disclosure control on Census 2021 data. Even fewer LAs can be shared using the national identity variable.

However, by changing the area of interest to a larger area, the information is available from the create a custom dataset tool. Please see the associated download providing these data.

We do have a commissioned tables services, which may be of interest to you. Using this route, you can make a request for the specific breakdown of information you are looking for, subject to disclosure controls or suppression, where required.
