Thank you for your request.

We produce statistics from the Labour Force Survey (LFS) on people working on zero-hours contracts broken down by UK country and region and publish these twice a year in the EMP17 dataset (https://www.ons.gov.uk/employmentandlabourmarket/peopleinwork/employmentandemployeetypes/datasets/emp17peopleinemploymentonzerohourscontracts).

The latest estimate, for the period April to June 2019, of the number of people working on zero-hours contracts in Northern Ireland is 16,000 (see Table 4 of the EMP17 dataset published on 13 August 2019).

We produce UK employment statistics on temporary agency workers broken down by sex from the LFS and publishes them each quarter in the EMP07 dataset (https://www.ons.gov.uk/employmentandlabourmarket/peopleinwork/employmentandemployeetypes/datasets/temporaryemployeesemp07).

Unfortunately, we do not provide breakdowns by UK country/region or by sector in dataset EMP07. The Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency (https://www.nisra.gov.uk/) may be able to provide this information for Northern Ireland, and can be contacted at: info@nisra.gov.uk.
