You asked
Under section 16 of the Freedom of Information Act, I would like to request the following information regarding neurodiversity and sleep disorders over the last three calendar years (2021-2024):
1. Statistics on Sleep Disorders in Neurodivergent Individuals
Could you provide data on the prevalence of sleep disorders among individuals diagnosed with neurodivergent conditions? Specifically, I am interested in sleep disorders (e.g. insomnia, sleep apnea, hypersomnia, circadian rhythm disorders, etc.) among individuals with:
- Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
- Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
- Dyslexia
- Dyspraxia
- Tourette's Syndrome
- Other neurodivergent conditions
If possible, please break down the data into the specific type of sleep disorder for each neurodivergent group.
2. Monthly Breakdown of Data
Please provide a monthly breakdown of the number of individuals with neurodivergent conditions who have been diagnosed with sleep disorders in the last three years.
3. Age and Gender Demographics
Could you provide the data broken down by age groups and gender for the individuals diagnosed with sleep disorders within the neurodivergent population?
Please provide this information in an Excel spreadsheet format.

Thank you for your enquiry.
Unfortunately, ONS does not hold data on the prevalence of sleep disorders in people with neurodivergent conditions.
You may wish to look at the data held in the Adult Psychiatric Morbidity Survey (APMS) which estimates the prevalence of some of the neurodivergent conditions specified in your request, however this does not present information on sleep disorders in these groups.
This request would require analysis to be completed using primary care data, which is data not held in ONS. Therefore, we consider this information not held.
