Thank you for your request.

Male and female life expectancy by National Statistics Socioeconomic Classification (NS-SEC) Class 1 and other classes in England and Wales has been published here: Trend in life expectancy by National Statistics Socioeconomic Classification, England and Wales - Office for National Statistics. It includes estimates for life expectancy at birth and other ages for 5-year periods between 1982 to 1986 and 2012 to 2016.

In England and Wales in 2012 to 2016, life expectancy at birth in NS-SEC Class 1 was 83.58 years for males (95% confidence interval 83.08 – 84.08 years) and 85.47 years for females (95% confidence interval 84.84 – 86.11 years).

We are currently scoping an update to this publication.

Data showing life expectancy by occupation is not held. This information would need to be created involving complex statistical processing requiring specialist expertise to determine appropriate methodologies. As this would constitute the creation of new information, the information is not held for FOI purposes.
