Can you please give me a breakdown of mortality rates for Jan-Dec 2020 and Jan-Dec 2022, all cause, by ethnicity please.

Unfortunately, we have not conducted analysis of 2020 to 2022 data by ethnicity. Our most recent publication looks at Mortality from leading causes of death by ethnic group, England and Wales which looks at data from 2012 to 2019.
Ethnicity is not recorded on the death certificate and therefore we need to create new information by linking mortality data with self-reported ethnicity using Census data. Under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA), public authorities are not obliged to create new information in order to answer FOI requests. This information therefore is not held.
However, we can look into producing this information as a user requested dataset. Special extracts and tabulations of mortality data are available to order from the Health Analysis and Pandemic Insight (HAPI) Customer services team. This service is subject to legal frameworks, disclosure control, resources and agreement to costs under the ONS Charging Policy.
