ONS currently has 33 Key Suppliers that we check for adherence to Section 54 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015. We are unable to report on supply chains in individual years.
4 - How often are due diligence checks carried out in compliance with Section 54 of the Modern Slavery Act and by whom (job title)?
Annually by the Contract Manager responsible for the supplier relationship. In addition, ONS extensively buys from Framework agreements awarded by Crown Commercial Services, who further assess suppliers for Modern Slavery risks.
5 - Which area of your supply chain do you think is particularly vulnerable to risks of modern slavery and human trafficking and what steps have you taken to manage these risks?
ONS follows the guidance provided by HM Government relating to high risk industries (link). ONS checks all Key Suppliers publish modern slavery statements and all suppliers must agree to ONS terms and conditions of contract that contain specific anti slavery provisions. All but 2 Key Suppliers are on CCS frameworks.

All ONS staff are CIPS qualified and undertake CIPS ethical procurement training, which includes specific training for Modern Slavery.
