You asked
Would it be possible to get 10 years worth of data on how many missing persons cases there are, and how many of these cases end up with forensic facial reconstructions?
We said
Thank you for your request.
Crime data published by the Office for National Statistics are produced from two sources of data; the Crime Survey for England and Wales (CSEW) and police recorded crime. The CSEW is a victimisation survey that asks people within households about their experiences of crime, and police recorded crime covers the offences reported to and recorded by the police.
Unfortunately, we are unable to provide you with the information you have requested, as we hold no data on missing persons. However, the Home Office may be better placed to assist you further. They can be contacted via crimeandpolicestats@homeoffice.gsi.gov.uk.
