Maternities to women under 20 years of age

You asked

Under the FOI Act, could you please supply the statistical data for the total number of teen pregnancies within the UK for each year, from 2005 to 2025.

We are responsible for the production of birth and mortality statistics for births and deaths registered in England and Wales. For statistics pertaining to Scotland or Northern Ireland you can contact  National Records of Scotland and Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Centre, respectively. 

The accompanying table provides the number of maternities for women under the age of 20 in England and Wales, 2005 to 2023. Please note that these figures do not include pregnancies resulting in abortion or miscarriage. 

We are in the process of finalising data for 2024 which will be released at the beginning of summer 2025.
