Thank you for your query regarding how many males and females have had anal canal cancer recorded as the cause of death in the 2005-2015 period.

ONS is responsible for producing Cancer Registration Statistics for England with key findings published annually in the following statistical bulletin:

https://www.ons.gov.uk/peoplepopulationandcommunity/healthandsocialcare/conditionsanddiseases/bulletins/cancerregistrationstatisticsengland/2014

This includes the number of deaths in England for all cancer sites by sex and age.

You can access the latest data (2014) here which covers the period 2001-2014:

https://www.ons.gov.uk/peoplepopulationandcommunity/healthandsocialcare/conditionsanddiseases/datasets/cancerregistrationstatisticscancerregistrationstatisticsengland

Table 10 outlines registrations of death from cancer based on cancer site and sex in England covering the period 2001- 2014 and Table 11 outlines these cancer death rates. Anal canal cancer is defined here as ‘Malignant neoplasm of anus and anal canal’ which refers to ICD-10 code C21.

If you specifically require deaths for anal canal cancer (ICD-10 code: C21.1), this is reported for England and Wales in the following link in Table 5.2 which is presented by sex and age. Separate datasets for each year covering the period 2006-2014 can be accessed here:

Please note that 2015 data is not yet available and will be published next spring/summer.
