Please provide the following data under the Freedom of Information Act 2000:
1. The number of live births in the UK where either parent:
- is recorded as being of Albanian nationality, or
- was born in Albania
If available, please provide:
- Annual data for the past 10 years
- Regional or local authority breakdown (if held)

We are responsible for the provision of birth statistics for England and Wales. National Records Scotland (NRS) and the Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency (NISRA) are responsible for statistics pertaining to Scotland and Northern Ireland. Therefore, we do not hold the requested data for the whole of the UK. Should you wish to obtain this data from NRS and NISRA, they can be contacted at foi@nrscotland.gov.uk and info@nisra.gov.uk, respectively.
Regarding data for England and Wales, please see our Parents' country of birth dataset, which provides annual data back to the past 10 years.
Regarding the information requested that is not available on our website, we could create a custom output. Information on live births where mothers' country of birth was in Albania broken down by region, along with other special extracts and tabulations of birth data for England and Wales are available to order (subject to legal frameworks, disclosure control, resources and agreements of costs.
