We publish figures for selected police recorded offences involving a knife or sharp instrument, by police force area in Table P5 of our Crime in England and Wales: Police Force Area data tables. Data are provided for the year ending March 2011 to the year ending March 2019.

We have calculated the rate of offences involving a knife or sharp instrument recorded by Essex police force per 100,000 population. We have calculated these offence rates for the year ending March 2014 to the year ending March 2019.

These offence rates have been calculated by dividing the number of knife or sharp instrument offences, from Table P5, by the population estimate for Essex. Mid-year population estimates, by police force area, can be found in our Crime in England and Wales: Police Force Area data tables.
