Thank you for your enquiry on anti-Muslim and Islamophobic hate crimes following the Manchester Arena Attack.

The Hate crime, England and Wales, 2019 to 2020 report published by the Home Office contains data on the number of hate crime offences recorded by the police as well as ONS data on hate crimes from the Crime Survey for England and Wales (CSEW).

Specifically, Table 16 of the Hate crime, England and Wales, 2019 to 2020: appendix tables contains data from the CSEW on the percentage of adults who were victims of religion-motivated hate crime broken down by the religion of the victim. Please note that these estimates are based on combined data for the year ending March 2018 to the year ending March 2020. The use of combined data is due to the low volume of hate crime incidents in the sample survey which means the figures are not sufficiently robust to report for a single year of the CSEW.

Table 6 contains data on the number of racially or religiously aggravated offences recorded by the police by month from April 2015 to March 2020.

The Home Office would be better placed to answer queries specific to their data. They can be contacted at crimeandpolicestats@homeoffice.gov.uk.
