You asked

Under the Freedom of Information Act, can you please provide:

1) the project title and short description for each current project in the IDS where the project is led by a) ONS/UKSA, and b) elsewhere in Government (providing the name of the public body for those projects); and

2) the document that describes why the information in part 1 is not proactively published (as it would be if the project was an academic project under the Digital Economy Act for example).

Regarding your second question, the information you have requested is not held by ONS.

Chapter 5, s.64 of The Digital Economy Act, and s.39(4)(i) of the Statistics and Registration Service Act 2007 both enable access to data held by public authorities for public good research projects. All research projects using these gateways are accredited by the Research Accreditation Panel and are published here Public Registers: Accredited Researchers and Accredited Projects – UK Statistics Authority. 

Projects which do not require Accreditation, such as projects in which ONS staff use only ONS data,  do not appear on the register.
