We are responsible for the production of mortality statistics for England and Wales, this is driven by information collected from the death certificate at death registration.
Figures for deaths registered in Scotland and Northern Ireland can be found at National Records Scotland and the Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency respectively.
Figures for deaths due to and involving COVID-19 for deaths registered in England and Wales are published in our Deaths due to Coronavirus, England and Wales publication. Please choose the 2020 edition for deaths registered in 2020.
