Infant mortality 2017

Please could you provide the 2017 infant mortality rates for all Councils in England & Wales.

We do not hold infant mortality data by Councils for England and Wales. However, we do hold data on infant deaths registered in a calendar year by local authority. We publish infant mortality rates by local authority in table 1a of our Deaths registered by area of usual residence publication. We will publish 2017 figures on 30 November 2018 and the dataset will be available in the following link:

We also publish infant mortality rates by local authority in table 3 of our Child mortality in England and Wales publication. The figures in this publication are based on deaths occurring in a calendar year and allows for delays in registering deaths. Therefore, the figures in this publication will not match the figures in Deaths registered by area of usual residence publication. Moreover, the latest data for Child mortality in England and Wales publication is for 2016. We will publish figures for 2017 in March/April next year:
