We said

Thank you for your Freedom of Information request regarding statistics on indecent exposure.

We publish statistics taken from the Crime Survey for England and Wales (CSEW) and crimes recorded by the police. The CSEW is a face-to-face victimisation survey in which people resident in the households of England and Wales are asked about their experiences of crime in the 12 months prior to their interview.

The latest CSEW estimates of the prevalence of indecent exposure can be found in tables S40 to S42 of our Annual Supplementary Tables. Data are available for the years ending March. For example, we have published these data for the year ending March 2019, and for the year ending March 2020, but not for the calendar years of 2019 and 2020.

These data are split by men and women, and by whether the respondent experienced indecent exposure any time since age 16, or within the last year.

More detailed statistics from the CSEW on indecent exposure can be found in our Sexual offending: Crime Survey for England and Wales appendix tables, however these data only cover the period up to the year ending March 2018.

If you have any questions about these data, or any further crime-related enquiries, please feel free to contact the ONS Centre for Crime and Justice at the following email address: CrimeStatistics@ons.gov.uk.
