You asked

I would like to know the Gross Value Added per head of resident population for activities relating to the technology industry (SIC2007 Section J Division 62) presented in pounds Sterling for NUTS2 sub-regions for the last five years.

We said

We have produced estimates of gross value added (GVA) attributable to the computer programming and consultancy industry (SIC2007 Section J Division 62) covering the period 1998 to 2017, which are available for download from our website. The estimates are published for a range of geographic areas of the UK including NUTS2 sub-regions.

We do not publish industry-specific GVA data on a per head basis because the entire resident population of an area bears no relation to the workforce engaged in any particular industry. Furthermore, this workforce may include people commuting to work from other parts of the UK, which can produce misleading results.

For example, you will see in the table of results provided that Inner London – West has by far the highest levels of GVA per head by this measure, but a large proportion of that GVA is being generated by people who live outside of the Inner London – West sub-region.

You are advised to exercise caution in the interpretation and use of these statistics.
