You asked
I would like to request statistics regarding diagnosis of fibromyalgia and its effect on the economy? For either Wales' population or the whole of the UK.
We said
Thank you for your request.
We have produced some statistics on disability within the UK using information derived from the Annual Population Survey. Unfortunately, this doesn't make specific reference to fibromyalgia.
A better source of information for information relating specifically to Wales, may be the Welsh Government. They have previously operated a task group looking specifically at Myalgic Encephalopathy/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS) and Fibromyalgia, which has investigated areas of good practice and development of diagnosis and treatment.
Health Education and Improvement Wales (HEIW) has also produced a useful webpage to specifically cover Fibromyalgia.
A further source of information might also be FibroSupport Wales, a Welsh based charity specialising in the illness.
Similarly for information specific to England you might be able to source information from NHS England at england.nhsdata@nhs.net and Fibromyalgia Action UK may have information for the UK as a whole.
