Thank you for your query regarding female chefs in London and the UK.
Estimates of the number of people in different occupations and their personal and work characteristics come from the Annual Population Survey (APS). Each quarter, on our Nomis website, we publish a dataset giving the numbers of people in each occupation. This dataset gives breakdowns by occupation, sex, region, full/part time, employee/self-employed and permanent/non-permanent. From 2021 this dataset has changed from a Standard Occupational Classification 2010 (SOC2010) to a SOC2020 basis. Estimates from Nomis are produced with related confidence intervals.
The APS also collects information on the ethnicity, country of birth, highest qualification, and marital status. However, we do not produce any regular outputs that breakdown occupations by these classifications.
It is possible to request a tailored analysis to be produced for these additional measures. To request an analysis, you can email our social surveys team socialsurveys@ons.gov.uk. Such services are subject to disclosure controls, resources, legal frameworks, and an agreement of costs in line with the ONS Charging Policy.
Similarly for our Annual Survey of Hours and Earnings (ASHE), each year we publish a breakdown of hours and earnings, broken down by sex, full-time and part-time, region and occupation: ASHE region by occupation.
Additional or alternative breakdowns can be requested as bespoke analysis by our Earnings team earnings@ons.gov.uk. Again this may be subject to a charge in line with our charging policy.
