You asked
Please tell me if the ONS receives the date of death for suicides in England and Wales.
If it does, please tell me the number of male suicides on Father's Day for the past five years relative to the average per day on other dates.
We said
Thank you for your enquiry.
We hold the following user requested data for the number of suicides by date of occurrence (date of death) in England and Wales.
Number of suicides occurring each day in 2014 and 2015 by age and sex, England and Wales
To ensure completeness, we would recommend that you do not request single days as this provides no context in how they compare to other days in the year. We can recreate this data set for you with data from 2015 to 2020 as a user requested data set.
Custom extracts and tabulations of mortality data are available to order from the HALE Customer services team. These extracts are subject to legal frameworks, disclosure control, resource, and agreement to costs under the ONS Charging policy. If you would like to request this bespoke dataset, please contact Health.Data@ons.gov.uk to discuss your enquiry further. Please note, there will be a charge for this work which would be subject to our charging policy.
As this information is reasonably accessible via another route, even if only accessible on payment, Section 21(1)(a) of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA) applies.
