You asked

Could you please assist with the following?

  1. Can you provide statistical information on faith communities/organisations in Coventry?

  2. Any idea of the population and its make?

  3. Perhaps by ward?

We said

Thank you for your request.

The census does not collect information on faith communities or organisations. It asks questions about households and their residents.  In doing so, it helps to build a detailed snapshot of our society that are then used by government, local authorities and public sector organisations across England and Wales to develop policies and plan and run services, such as schools, health services, roads, and libraries and to decide how to allocate funds to make sure public funds get to where they are needed most.

The accompanying tables have been extracted from Nomis and show religion for all wards in Coventry and age and sex for all wards in Coventry from the 2011 Census. Nomis (www.nomisweb.co.uk ) is a service run on behalf of the ONS by the university of Durham. The most up to date statistics are from the 2011 Census. We will release the first results for Census 2021 data on the population of England and Wales on 28 June 2022 and aim to publish all other main Census 2021 data within two years of the census. Our proposed outputs and analysis release plans are detailed here:
