Thank you for your Freedom of Information request about aspects of EU – UK trade and immigration.

  1. We publish International Passenger Survey 3.13, citizenship by usual occupation prior to migration and sex, UK which does give data by profession but doesn’t go down to the level of detail you request.

We have produced a report which looks at migrant contribution to the UK construction industry. This doesn’t look at migration flows in and out of the UK, but is based on a three-year pooled Annual Population Survey (APS) dataset (2014 to 2016). The report can be found here.

We also published a follow-up report on 23 August 2018 looking at variation of migrant labour in the construction industry across regions and constituent countries. This report considers migrant contribution in the following sub-sectors: ‘Construction of buildings’, ‘Civil engineering’ and ‘Specialised construction activities’.

  2. Unfortunately, we do not currently compile import and export data at the level requested however this information is published by Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs (HMRC). The HMRC website is as follows https://www.gov.uk/government/organisations/hm-revenue-customs. HMRC also have a Freedom of Information email address where requests for information can be submitted which is foi.request@hmrc.gsi.gov.uk. ’

On 22 August 2018 we published Construction statistics annual: Number 19, 2018 edition which you may find of interest.
