Please provide the population numbers for England by category of ethnicity for each of the last 10 decades to date ie:
as at 31st May 2024, 2014, 2004, 1994, 1984, 1974, 1964, 1954, 1944, 1934.
It's important that the 2024 statistics are the most up to date numbers on record whereas for previous decades end of whichever period is most convenient for you will suffice. The objective is to identify how the respective numbers have moved over time.
It would also be useful to know the degree of accuracy or confidence which you attach to the data.

Ethnic group was first collected in the 1991 Census. This associated download provides ethnic group data for England for the decennial censuses from 1991 to 2021.
The accuracy and reliability of our statistics are measured using the European Statistical System. More details are available in ONS Statistical Quality Improvement Strategy which explains how the ONS is improving the quality of ONS statistics and analysis.
