Thank you for your request in relation to domestic violence case involving South Asian citizens living within England and Wales.

We publish data from the Crime Survey for England and Wales (CSEW) and police recorded crime.

The CSEW is the best measure for the prevalence of domestic abuse. Prevalence of domestic abuse by victim characteristics, which includes an "Asian - Bangladeshi" ethnic group breakdown, can be found in the Table 6 of the year ending March 2020 edition of the Domestic abuse prevalence and victim characteristics dataset.

Unfortunately, CSEW domestic abuse data is not held for the year ending March 2021, due to the suspension of the face-to-face survey due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Police recorded crime domestic homicide data is available by ethnicity using a combined dataset for the year ending March 2018 to year ending March 2020. It should be noted that these data may be influenced by changes in recording practices and police activity, or by changes in the way victims report to the police and should be treated with caution. Data for Asian (Indian sub-continent) ethnicity can be found in Table 17d of the year ending March 2021 edition of the Domestic abuse prevalence and victim characteristics dataset.
