You asked

Please could you provide me with statistics of domestic abuse within the UK for the most current year?

We said

Thank you for your enquiry.

Our recently released publication ‘Domestic abuse in England and Wales: year ending March 2017’ contains statistics on domestic abuse for the year ending March 2017, the most recent time period for which data are available. This publication includes data on the prevalence of domestic abuse from the Crime Survey for England and Wales (CSEW), domestic abuse recorded by the police, domestic abuse-related prosecutions and convictions from the Crown Prosecution Service, and service provision for victims of domestic abuse from a number of domestic abuse charities.

Whilst we only publish statistics for England and Wales, ‘Domestic abuse recorded by the police in Scotland, 2016-17’ are published by the Scottish government and ‘Domestic abuse statistics’ recorded by the police in Northern Ireland are released quarterly.

You may also be interested in our ‘Focus on violence: year ending 2016’ publication which contains more in-depth findings from the CSEW on domestic abuse. We plan to update this data for the year ending March 2017 in February 2018.
