You asked

I am requesting the provision of the number of reported domestic abuse cases where the victim met their abuser on a dating site and were already known to the police for previous violent behaviour against women.

We said

Thank you for your request.

Unfortunately, we do not hold the data you have requested.

We publish detailed statistics on domestic abuse annually in our Domestic abuse in England and Wales overview. These data include statistics from a variety of government departments and the Crime Survey for England and Wales (CSEW). Some of the topics covered include prevalence estimates, victim demographic characteristics, number of police recorded offences, arrests, prosecutions, convictions, domestic violence protection orders and disclosure schemes. All data from this report can be viewed here. Some data is also available in our quarterly Crime in England and Wales publication and associated tables.

We do not hold data on how victims met the offender or if they were already known to police for previous offences. The Home Office and Ministry of Justice may be able to advise on any other information they hold that could be of use to you. They can be contacted at CrimeandPoliceStats@homeoffice.gov.uk and CJS_Statistics@justice.gov.uk respectively. If you have any future crime-related queries, please contact CrimeStatistics@ons.gov.uk and we will endeavour to help.
