I am looking to find out about divorce rates in the UK, in particular Surrey or closest by region if possible.

The latest divorce statistics for England and Wales including rates are available at www.ons.gov.uk/peoplepopulationandcommunity/birthsdeathsandmarriages/divorce/datasets/divorcesinenglandandwales and the latest annual UK divorce figures are available at www.ons.gov.uk/peoplepopulationandcommunity/populationandmigration/populationestimates/datasets/vitalstatisticspopulationandhealthreferencetables
We do not produce divorces by area of residence. This is because divorce data provided to us by the courts contains no information on the area of residence of the parties. As courts are not evenly spread around England and Wales and the two parties may choose the court they wish to use, the location of the court is not necessarily a good indicator of where the parties lived either before or after separation.
However, the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) do publish data on divorce petitions and decree nisi by Designated Family Judge (DFJ) area and region in their Family Court Statistics Quarterly at:
www.gov.uk/government/collections/family-court-statistics-quarterly (see Family Data tables and the CSV file CSV_DFJ_level).
Other special extracts and tabulations of divorce data for England and Wales are available (subject to legal frameworks, disclosure control, resources and agreement of costs, where appropriate). If you would like further information, you can contact the team directly at: vsob@ons.gov.uk
