You asked

How many divorces across the UK have cited dispute or disagreements around vaccines within their reasons for separating. Please could you provide me with the information, broken down year by year, since 1993?

Thank you for your request.

We do not hold divorce statistics for Scotland and Northern Ireland. National Records Scotland (NRS) and the Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency (NISRA) are responsible for statistics pertaining to Scotland and Northern Ireland. They can be contacted at foi@nrscotland.gov.uk and info@nisra.gov.uk respectively.

Divorce data can be found as part of our Divorces in England and Wales, of which the latest data available is 2019. We do not have information on specific reasons such as vaccines for the reason for divorce.  This would most likely be considered as irreconcilable differences, which can include problems such as:

  • Family disputes
  • Bad work and a home life balance
  • Difficulties communicating
  • Personal habits
  • Disagreements involving household chores
  • Friends and family's input
  • Debt and money problems
  • Different parenting ideas

In England and Wales, to divorce you must prove your irreconcilable differences by using one of 5 facts to divorce which is what our statistics is based on:

  • Unreasonable Behaviour
  • Adultery
  • 2-year separation
  • 5-year separation
  • Desertion

Information on Divorces, Fact Proven is available from 1979 to 2019 in table 6 of the above publication. 2020 data is scheduled for publication in October/November 2021.
