I request the following information under the provisions of the freedom of information act.

  1. How many discipline cases were raised within ONS over the last 2 years.

  2. How many were proven and how many dismissed.

  3. How many resulted in dismissal

  4. How many written warnings given and what level were they.

  5. How many resulted in termination of employment.

The ONS casework team provide advice to managers at any stage of potential misconduct concerns from general enquiries and informal action, in the case of minor misconduct, to formal discipline cases relating to serious or gross misconduct.

1. Between 04.05.2019 to 04.05.2021, 44 cases of potential misconduct were heard under the formal Discipline Policy.  

2. Between 04.05.2019 to 04.05.2021, 36 cases have concluded under the formal Discipline Policy and resulted in 33 formal sanctions. Sanctions range from a first written warning to final written warning or dismissal. 3 cases resulted in no formal outcome.  8 cases have yet to conclude.

3. 10 of these disciplinary cases resulted in dismissal.

4. 23 of these cases resulted in formal written warnings. Of these 14 were first written warnings and 9 were final written warnings

5. As a result of the discipline process, 10 cases resulted in termination of employment.
