Thank you for your request.

We estimate labour market statistics for regions and countries by personal characteristics, such as disability, using the Annual Population Survey (APS).

We define unemployment, in line with International Labour Organisation (ILO) definitions, as someone who is not in work, but is actively seeking and available to start work. Therefore, we would consider the number of people searching for employment and the number of people unemployed to be the same thing.

According to the APS for the twelve month period April 2019 to March 2020, the latest period available, there were an estimated 29,100 people who met either the Equalities Act core definition of disability, or defined themselves as having a work limiting disability, who were unemployed, resident in Scotland.
