Thank you for your request relating to disability hate crime in Nottingham.

The Home Office produce an annual report ‘Hate Crime, England and Wales’, which includes information on disability hate crimes. The latest available report was published on 17 October 2017. In particular, Appendix Table 2.01 showing the type of hate crime by police force area may be of interest to you. Previous releases of the report cover disability hate crime by police force area from the year ending March 2012. Prior to this date, data on disability hate crime by police force area have not been published.

The Home Office are responsible for publishing data on hate crimes recorded by the police. It is possible the Home Office may hold more detailed information about disability hate crime, such as location and gender of victim. They can be contacted by email at: CrimeandPoliceStats@homeoffice.gsi.gov.uk.

The Crime Survey for England and Wales (CSEW) also asks questions about whether an incident was deemed by the victim to be a hate crime. Due to the low volume of hate crime incidents in the sample survey, the figures are not sufficiently robust to report for a single year of the CSEW. To produce hate crime estimates using a larger sample size we combine data from three survey years. This approach was last used in Hate Crime, England and Wales 2014/15 release published by the Home Office, which presents estimates for England and Wales based on a three year dataset from April 2012 to March 2015. Even with the joining of datasets, the number of victims of hate crime upon which these estimates are based are relatively small. Therefore, we have not published hate crime statistics for lower-level geographies such as Nottingham.

We do not hold data relating to blue badge crimes. The Department for Transport have produced a data set regarding Blue Badge prosecutions, lost and stolen badges which includes figures for Nottinghamshire. Should you have any questions about this data set, the Department for Transport may be better placed to answer your query. Their email address is parking.data@dft.gsi.gov.uk.

We regret we are unable to assist you further. If you would like any further information in the future, you can email CrimeStatistics@ons.gov.uk and we will endeavour to help.
