Please provide statistics on the use of diminished responsibility in murder cases back to 1957.

We publish statistics taken from the Crime Survey for England and Wales (CSEW) and crimes recorded by the police. We do not deal with statistics relating to convictions or outcomes, and therefore we do not hold the information requested.
Statistics on convictions are published by the Ministry of Justice (MoJ), they may be able to help you further and can be reached at statistics.enquiries@justice.gov.uk.
Statistics on case outcomes are published by the Crown Prosecution Service who can also be contacted by e-mail at enquiries@cps.gov.uk.
