Please supply a dataset showing cause of death by ICD-10 code for deaths of those under 1 year of age, including cause of death for neonates for years from 2012 to 2022.

We hold analysis showing postneonatal deaths (aged between 28 days and under one year), by broad underlying ICD-10 cause groups in Table 8 of our Child and infant mortality in England and Wales publication. Data are available from 2012 to 2019 in each annual data release.
Unfortunately, this analysis does not include neonatal deaths. Neonatal deaths are registered using a special death certificate, which enables reporting of relevant diseases or conditions in both the infant and the mother. Therefore, we do not hold the information you requested for neonatal deaths as it is not possible to assign an underlying cause of death.
However, we do publish neonatal deaths by ONS cause group in Table 4 of our of our Child and infant mortality in England and Wales publication for 2012 to 2019. The classification of ONS cause groups allows the deaths to be assigned to a specific category, based on the likely timing of the damage leading to the death. Please see our User guide to Child and infant mortality statistics for more information on ONS cause groups.
Figures released in our Child and infant mortality publications are based on date of death and are currently available up until 2019. Due to delays between death occurrence and registration, we take the data extract some months after the end of the reference year to capture as many infant deaths that occurred as possible. Figures for 2020 are due be published on the 17 February 2022.
Alternatively, for a detailed breakdown of underlying causes of postneonatal deaths by ICD-10 code, you can use the NOMIS webservice. Figures provided on the NOMIS database are available from 2013 and 2020 and are based on date of registration, which means they capture the number of deaths registered in a calendar year.
