Thank you for your enquiry.

  • How many of the deaths on the MHRA yellow card reporting system which lists adverse reactions to the COVID-19 injections have been investigated by conducting autopsies and full post-mortem test results in order to establish what the actual cause of death was?

We do not hold the data you have requested on the deaths on the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulation Agency (MHRA) yellow card reporting system. The MHRA yellow card scheme is a self-reporting function. We would suggest contacting MHRA for queries regarding this.

  • How many deaths have been proven not to be caused by the vaccine after full autopsy and post-mortem tests?

We hold do not hold analysis of deaths that have been proven not to be caused by the COVID-19 vaccination after full autopsy and post-mortem tests. In order to fulfil this request, we would need to create bespoke analysis. Under the Freedom of Information Act 2000, Public Authorities are not obligated to create information in order to respond to requests.

  • How many deaths have been proven to be caused by the vaccine after the appropriate tests having been done?

Our mortality data comes from the information collected at death registration. All of the conditions mentioned on the death certificate are coded using the International Classification of Diseases, Tenth Revision (ICD-10). You can read in detail about the coding of causes of death and identifying the underlying cause in the ONS User guide to mortality statistics and the WHO International Classification of Diseases (ICD-10) instruction manual.

We hold analysis on the number of deaths involving adverse reactions to the COVID-19 vaccination (not restricted to the first or second wave), you can find these figures in table 12 of our Monthly Mortality Analysis dataset. There are currently 4 deaths registered with the aligning ICD-10 codes for this (U12.9).

  • In care homes throughout England and Wales, how many of the residents who have died within 28 days of receiving either shot, have had their deaths investigated by pathologists through autopsy?

We hold do not hold analysis specifically for care home residents that have died within 28 days of receiving a COVID-19 vaccination, by either place of occurrence or including post-mortem. In order to fulfil this request, we would need to create bespoke analysis. Under the Freedom of Information Act 2000, Public Authorities are not obligated to create information in order to respond to requests. We therefore consider this to be information not held.

  • How many people have died in hospital in England and Wales who have had either one or both shots of a COVID-19 vaccine?

We do not hold analysis of people that have died in England and Wales by place of occurrence specifically after receiving one or two doses of a COVID-19 vaccination. In order to fulfil this request, we would need to create bespoke analysis. Under the Freedom of Information Act 2000, Public Authorities are not obligated to create information in order to respond to requests.

  • Of those who have been vaccinated in England and Wales, how many people are now dead?

We have published the following release, Deaths involving COVID-19 by vaccination status, England: deaths occurring between 2 January and 2 July 2021, which is an analysis of deaths involving COVID-19 by vaccination status that occurred between 1 January and 2 July 2021 in England.

To produce this dataset, we completed complex linking of mortality data to vaccination data supplied to us by NHS Digital.

This publication includes weekly age standardised mortality rates for deaths involving COVID-19 by vaccination status and a detailed analysis of deaths involving COVID-19 which occurred in fully vaccinated individuals.

This is the latest data we hold; however, we are planning a future publication as we obtain more data. The publication date will be announced on our Release Calendar.

We could only produce this data up to 2 July 2021 owing to the availability of the data at the time of analysis and to the time required to complete the complex linkage.
