You asked

I would like to request some additional information on the publicly available dataset Number of deaths in care homes notified to the Care Quality Commission, England. Specifically, I request to see the number of deaths (both all-cause and involving COVID-10) occurring in care homes by Local Authority across private, non-profit (registered charities), and local authority providers. The information does not need to reveal information about the individual providers, but it should demonstrate the distribution of deaths across these groups for local authorities. I'd like this information for the full period of the dataset, starting 10/04/2020.

Thank you for your enquiry.

The dataset 'Number of deaths in care homes notified to the Care Quality Commission, England' is based on provisional data. Provisional mortality data are only released via our weekly and monthly mortality analysis publications under special measures with a provisional caveat. However, given the current situation with the COVID-19 pandemic, we have increased our output of provisional data to aid specialist modelling work and to provide further information alongside our weekly deaths publication. Unfortunately, we have not undertaken the specific analysis requested. In order to fulfil this request, we would need to create a bespoke analysis. Under the Freedom of Information Act 2000, Public Authorities are not obligated to create information in order to respond to requests. We therefore consider this to be information not held.
