​I would be very grateful if you could confirm total deaths from Spanish Flu in 1918.

Since 175,000 seems far too low and if the graphic is correct in Taubenbergers paper which I have converted to excels and the numbers seem to be much much larger.

The mortality data for this publication is taken from our 20th century mortality files available on the National Archives.

We have taken the ICD codes 1-9 for influenza and pneumonia and this is what has built our data.

This publication is not specifically looking at "Spanish flu" deaths, but addresses deaths from influenza and pneumonia during this period.

Unfortunately, there is no specific ICD code for Spanish flu. Therefore, we do not hold the specific information requested.
