Thank you for your enquiry.

The number of deaths 'due to' and 'involving' COVID-19 for each week of 2020 and 2021 can be found in the downloadable datafile beneath Figure 2 of our Weekly Deaths Bulletin.

We use the term "due to COVID-19" when referring only to deaths where that illness was recorded as the underlying cause of death. We use the term "involving COVID-19" when referring to deaths that had that illness mentioned anywhere on the death certificate, whether as an underlying cause or not.

The number of deaths involving COVID-19 by ICD-10 code registered between March 2020 and January 2021 in England and Wales can be found in Table 12 our Monthly Mortality Analysis.

We are currently developing our analytical plans with an intention to publish detailed vaccination statistics soon, which will include whether any of those who have died from COVID-19 have received a COVID-19 vaccination. Once we have finalised these plans a publication date will be announced on our Release Calendar.
