Thank you for your request.
We are responsible for the production of mortality data for England and Wales, driven by information collected from death certificates at death registration. We only hold information relating to COVID-19 deaths, we do not hold information on reported cases.
Deaths where the vaccine is recorded as a cause of death have a cause of death code of U12.9 - "COVID-19 vaccines causing adverse effects in therapeutic use, unspecified" recorded on the death certificate. The brand and dose of the vaccine are not provided on death certificates. Therefore, we do not hold the requested information relating to unexplained deaths after administering Pfizer.
However, we do hold the following analysis, which may be of interest: Monthly mortality analysis, England and Wales . Table 14 will provide number of deaths registered due to or involving COVID-19 vaccines causing adverse effects in therapeutic use and table 15 will provide an age breakdown.
As of 30 June 2023, there are 63 deaths registered where COVID-19 vaccines causing adverse effects is mentioned on the death certificate, of which 55 are registered as the underlying cause of death in England.
In Wales, there is 1 death registered where COVID-19 vaccines causing adverse effects is the underlying cause of death.
We regularly publish deaths involving COVID-19 or all cause deaths after receipt of the COVID-19 vaccination. We hold the following analysis showing deaths involving COVID-19 by vaccination status that occurred between 1 April 2021 and 31st December 2022 in England: Deaths by vaccination status, England.
This publication includes weekly age standardised mortality rates for deaths involving COVID-19 by vaccination status and a detailed analysis of deaths involving COVID-19 which occurred in fully vaccinated individuals. This dataset was produced through complex linking of census data to vaccination data held by NHS. A breakdown by vaccination status for deaths involving COVID-19 is available in table 1.
Unfortunately, we do not hold analysis of COVID deaths involving other causes such as ketoacidosis.
