Deaths due to or involving COVID-19

Single year of age and average age of death of people whose death was due to or involved COVID-19 for the period March 2020 to October 2021, England and Wales, is available in our monthly mortality analysis publication.  Data are available from March 2020 because that is when the first COVID-19 death was registered. The tables also include the number of deaths from all causes, which enables you to calculate the percentage of COVID-19 deaths. You can access the reference table directly here.

If you wish to discuss this further, please contact health.data@ons.gov.uk.

Vaccination status of 12 to 15 year olds

You can find official vaccination counts by age on tab 2 of the UK health security agency's COVID-19 daily announced vaccinations datasets. This includes data for those aged 12-15. In UKHSA's COVID-19 weekly announced vaccinations datasets, you can find estimates of population sizes, which can be used as denominators to calculate approximate vaccine uptake percentages by age group. Please pay attention to the note about population size (denominators) on the definitions tab of this dataset, explaining that vaccine uptake percentages calculated using these denominators should be considered as estimates only. For more information, you can contact UKHSA via email at informationrights@ukhsa.gov.uk.

The Office for National Statistics COVID-19 Infection Survey (CIS) is a household survey that estimates the number of people testing positive for infection and for antibodies in the UK. Our statistics refer to the number of current COVID-19 infections within the population living in private residential households. We exclude those in hospitals, care homes and/or other communal establishments. In communal establishments, rates of COVID-19 infection are likely to be different.

In the dataset accompanying our latest antibody and vaccination bulletin, you can find the modelled percentage of the adult population vaccinated for COVID-19  by age on tabs 1g, 2e, 3e, and 4e for England, Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland respectively. Please note that we do not publish data on under 16s and that these figures are estimates based off the survey population and not to be confused with official data.
