You asked

We would like to ask for four pieces of information concerning 411 individuals. The four pieces of information are:

  1. Is this individual deceased according to your records?

  2. If so, what was the date of their death?

  3. What age were they when they passed away?

  4. What was the cause of death?

We said

Thank you for your request.

We hold information relating to the deaths of individuals however we will be unable to release this to you. Section 39 of the Statistics and Registration Service Act 2007 (SRSA) makes it an offence to release personal information. Personal information is any information held by the Board for statistical purposes that would identify an individual or a body corporate. This includes individuals that are deceased. Because disclosure is prohibited by another enactment, s.44 of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA) applies.

Your request may be better placed with either the General Register Office or NHS Digital as these organisations are not bound by the same laws as we are.
