Thank you for your request.

  1. How many Councils in England and Wales are sharing personal or sensitive personal data under this initiative

We have a new initiative on the 2020 Single Data List to acquire Council Tax data from Local Authorities. In support of this we currently have data sharing agreements with 247 Local Authorities (LAs) in England and Wales and are working to establish data sharing arrangements with the remainder. In the most recent period (October 2020) we received data from 212 England and Wales LAs.

  1. Are there any councils who are only sharing pseudonymised data?

No. The data requested by ONS are record-level extracts and do not include the alternative of pseudonymised data.
